Synopsis
In April 2010 a group of young German students started a trip to one of the last hardly known countries
in the world – Kazakhstan. With just a few information and prejudiced by movies like Borat they were not sure about what to expect and full of doubts.
Guided by their Professor, Prof. Dr. Nailja Luth, Kazakhstan changed their opinion within days. The
students discovered a country, completely different of what they expected. A country full of opposites,
located between Asia and Europe, between post-soviet relicts and a desire for modern luxury. Almaty
the former capital of Kazakhstan is representative for these opposites. While the city itself contains
about millions of residents, high skyscrapers and modern universities, the surroundings is almost
deserted but offers snow-covered mountains next to endless steppe and great canyons as well.
During the trip the students met a lot of interesting people. Young Kazakhs, a self-made millionaire, an
Austrian bank-manager and a traditional eagle trainer provided them different insights into their life in
Kazakhstan. All these people, their mentality, their hospitality complete the picture of Kazakhstan,
documented in the movie “Adventure Almaty – 2 Weeks in Kazakhstan”.
